Shattered

Shattered

A Poem by Colleen Kelley

the time is passing so slow today
I thought I was used to you being gone
until I woke up again and you weren't there
and I feel empty again
when I thought I was coming back to life
it's getting harder to breathe around here

I talked to you today
about everything and nothing
and never said what I really wanted to say -
like "I miss you, I love you"
and "if it's true that you still care,
why are you so intent on killing me?"

going through every day without you -
you'd think it would make me strong
but all it does is shatter what remained
and summer nights will always bring back
what it felt like to sleep in your arms
and everything else I loved -

I've got to let go
before I drown in the hope you've given me

Well expressed. I can feel the misery and loss through your words.

Well expressed need of longing, of wanting that one special person to give us hope.
