Again

Again

A Poem by Chad LaPierre

             trembling trapdoor ceases.
 stiff fingers enclose
 the splintery surface
 and smash the
pricks to pieces.
“I … I am … I am free.”
       nocturnal tongue releases.

in the forest that stays:
"it has ended."

the escarpment sinks
into the ground,
     averse to sound.
