Town

Town

A Poem by Chad LaPierre

Homeward bound
in the snowy hillsides,
I spot an unlit town sleeping
beneath sheets of white
and sheets of sadness.
The ice is a hindrance,
and the town seems further
than I thought it was once.

And I head to the crest of a
snowy dune because
I hear something crying
on the other side.

But there doesn't seem to
be a single thing in the air
tonight.

'I hear something crying

very simple layers build a lovely structure here. i loved the line about the ice and the painting you drew here for me so i could see the town in my minds eye. fantastic.
