I Wear the Mask

I Wear the Mask

A Poem by The Greatest Hurricane

I wear the mask that sparkles and shines

It’s bright and happy on the outside,

But take a peek within

And I’m like a bubble about to burst

Always hiding what really hurts.

The anger I feel is suppressed

As I become more and more stressed.

Living up to expectations is not all it seems,

When you always feel like you’re not good enough.

Ms. Care-Free

When people look, that’s all they see

When people talk, I wear a smile,

What they don’t know is their words are something I will always keep,

Secretly hidden, way down deep.

When hiding yourself makes you stress every moment,

We ask ourselves…Is it really worth it?

Extremely well written and boy does this speak millions of volumes of expressional feelings and you know doubt have connected with every living soul out there.....how often do we smile at others when all we want to do it cry....how often do we wear masks to hide what truly is behind the dark eyes....I also wrote a poem "My Mask Asks Why" speaking closely to how you have described here.....Kudos to you and your writing style and thank you for allowing me into your piece of creation
