A Poem by Courtney A

I'm breaking my promise and I'm writing about a boy.
I can't not write about him.
I can't not think about him.

I use the term soulmate too loosely,
But I think maybe?
I don't want to say it
Because I know one day I'll look fondly on these words I wrote
And think of that coffee colored boy from San Tan Valley
How he was my muse
And about how he made me think
Maybe God didn't put the stars in the sky
Maybe it was me.

Someday I will look back on this lousy poem and cry
Because I no longer speak to the boy who once gave me butterflies from a thousand miles away
Someday he'll be but a distant memory
But for today,
He's mine.
And we aren't promised another day.
