NEMESIS

NEMESIS

A Poem by GypsyMoonCat
"

I've always thought of depression as a dark, hooded visitor - one who comes, spends some time, then goes.

"

I met Nemesis
as a young woman teetering
on society’s high heels
In youthful arrogance
I brushed off the signs
of his arrival

My hooded visitor
came from behind
giving me such a scare
Tremors shook as
foundations once solid
cracked, revealing expanses
of unknown territory

Alone and blinded
I felt my way along flimsy walls
through dark corridors

I needed an ally
so Nemesis became a lifeline
while I wondered,

Why me?

I peered out from my window prison

watching familial chains loosen

and marvelled at

masked impressions on glass

Though I survived each strange alliance

in the telling, the fear is revived

and each time he comes, I ask

“Why are you here?”

He lowers the hood and smiles,

like the devil with a kill

sighing like winter fog

Unhurried, he replies,

“It defies answer”

I like the beginning of the poem, how you introduce "Nemesis", however I have a hard time following through the rest of the poem, might be because od the advanced language (English is not my mother tongue). I like how the poem is more of a story, but in a poetic layout.
Keep it up. :)

About
I write mainly poems, but sometimes do the odd short story or flash fiction. I love poetry, although I'm not keen on the modern three line style, so you won't see many, if not ANY, of those! Been writ.. more..
