You Never Made It Home

You Never Made It Home

A Poem by GypsyMoonCat
"

A poem for those who never made it home

"

You left in the belly of spring
after buds nodding fulsome heads
burst into glorious, colourful song
My own belly curved gently

promising new life

I recall you turned, smiling
as you
stepped aboard

so certain you’d return

Summer became autumn
bringing flashes of ochre

in falling leaves

As winter breathed,

I embraced her arrival

tiny fingers a miracle

curved around one of mine

I felt your smile

Now I celebrate

first teeth, first words

each milestone a treasure

framed in memory

For you never made it home

You got me on this one! Very emotional and so well written. It played out a whole movie while reading.

Excellent job on this beautiful piece.

This is beautiful and emotional. It reminds me of a soldier and his wife, I am not sure if that's what you are going for, but it works very well if it is. Good job, this is another great poem. :)

Brings to mind thoughts of world war 1 and the hundreds of thousands who set off to far flung lands never to return. My favourite of yours

I like it. reading through some of your work, I start to lose track of what you're trying to convey, but this one has a meaning I can grasp and hold onto. Not to be funny or anything, but this could be put into a remembrance card for Hallmark or something similar.
