100 Ways My Love Will Fail You

100 Ways My Love Will Fail You

A Poem by Wrath

I love you like someone might love a particularly violent dog / like a mother loves her child mid-tantrum in the middle of the supermarket / like a businessman who doesn't remember the name of his eldest child's pet rabbit loves the taste of coffee and ibuprofen / I love you like a cat loves a mouse / like Icarus loved the promise of freedom / like Abel loved Cain / like the devil loves a sinner on his way down to Hell / like G*d loves a sinner, but only the part that never disappointed him / like G*d loves everyone- unconditionally, but with certain conditions / like G*d loved the world before he flooded it / I love you, but / I love you, but / I love you, but you're pissing me off / my love is laced with guilt and rage / tastes like a bloody lip / like nail polish / my love raises questions / like how far can it bend before it snaps / my love is hungry and you are so small / I am so small / my love has an appetite that will never be satisfied / has an expiration date / I love you / but my love is something better kept to myself / better extinguished before it can hurt anyone / my love is something ugly / sorry / I love you
