Standing As I Fall

Standing As I Fall

A Poem by Kaden Elias Sylvers

I am standing as I fall

and no one will catch me, I walk silently out the door

holding on to small moments, a glimmer of hope when I look in your eyes

I am standing as I fall

and I will stay standing, I am strong,

but I will fall too, for I already have,

as the moon howls this demonic roar,

this entity we suddenly are, I am, but I have no gender,

and anything can happen (anything will), I ram my fist into cracked pavement,

I feel the night upon me, I have fallen but I don’t feel anything but freezing legs and everything racing in my veins, to my pumping thumping heart, falling now, as I race onward, nothing can stop me, nothing will, I am alive as ever even now, and my legs shiver, the hair raises and everything is awakening in me, cold as hot fire hammered to the forlorn moonlight.  But the sun has fallen, the daylight is no more, but I will stay standing, waiting, nothing can stop me, nothing will, I am standing as I fall.
