The Anniversary Poem

The Anniversary Poem

A Poem by Mike Mounts
"

A poem of love and adoration for your spouse and the dreams you have for the years you will have together.

"

From day one you have captivated me

My eyes in a trance as I gazed upon your beauty

As we talked and took moonlit walks

The hidden love inside me burst into a flood

And I knew that someday you would be folding my socks.

Each year that has gone by like clouds in the sky

The more I realize that I want to be with you till the day I die.

Through our love we have formed beautiful wonders

Through tear filled eyes I watch them grow and play

As I pray that the reasons I fell in love with you they will also have someday.

My dreams and visions for years to come

When all of our little ones are grown and gone

We will be walking the watery sands hand in hand and tongue to tongue.

So well written. The whole time I was reading this, it made me think of my husband and the years we've spent together. Especially when you mentioned moonlit walks.

Great job depicting a happy relationship from dating to empty nesting. While I think I understand the intended sentiment the line- And I knew that someday you would be folding my socks.- seems to work against the mood and mutual love and respect I think you were intending. I enjoyed the poem.
