I Wish I Could Go Back

I Wish I Could Go Back

A Poem by Luci

"

I wish I could go back

And tell her she is forgiven

For mistakes she hasn't recognised yet

And lovers best forgotten

I wish I could go back

And hold her in my arms

Tell her everything will be okay

And shield her from the harm

Wipe away her fallen tears

And allow her to stand tall

Don’t mind those friends who laugh and point

In time, they’ll be long gone

You only have yourself, little one

And yourself is all you need

The strength you pine and wander for

Is inside, deep within me

I wish I could go back

But would I change it if I could?

For who would I be if not for the pain?

I’ve come to cherish, bad and good

If I could just go back,

I’d smile, and hold her tight

A child with the world before her

And I know, it will all be alright.
