BodyA Poem by Luciart by Pierre Boncompain
dear body,
how i desire to love you, wrap arms around your torso, and savour the softness, of skin upon skin fingers upon flesh, graze over the outlines of your ribcage, down the length of your bones, remember how they were once broken, only to mend stronger, replenish trauma with life, the ivory feels more and more like hardened steel with every passing year protecting your fragile heart beneath. how wise you really must be, oh body, the things you have seen endured touch that did not quite belong, the stories you could retell, some of which may be best forgotten, but all inspire admiration not pity, but respect i know you are a master of disguise, covered up by bundles and plaster, but you deserve to be known to be loved, to feel the warmth of the sun on every inch of you, not to hide inside the walls of fear and insecurity, but to be celebrated. dear body, you are worthy, and one day, you will know it. © 2022 LuciAuthor's Note
