Summer
She yearns for attention
someone to
quench her thirst
for life
she plays with my hair
whispers
in my ear
‘I don’t think I’ll ever fall in love’
the
heat burns our skins to red
heart beats faster
soak up the
rays of warmth
caressing our skins
her face between my
palms
I dig my hands into
grains of sand
pouring between the cracks
the softness of her hair
between my
fingertips
We slip into seas and oceans
abandoned swimming
pools
her bed
Her skin glistens with sweat
all I can hear
are the words,
‘I don’t think I’ll ever fall in love’
Autumn
She becomes lost
in the surrounding
mist
parts of her soul scatter
she sheds her old layers
red and yellow leaves
fall from the trees
cracked and
fragile
her eyes stare into mine
‘I need change, I need
something new’
I promise her the world
with red, red
cheeks that mirror hers
down city streets
we sit on park
benches
watching our breath
escape our lips
and coil into
the air
she shivers
her brown eyes reflect the setting sun
orange draped across the sky
I grasp her hand
I can give her what she's looking for
‘Can you?’
Winter
She feels forgotten
nothing more
than a skeleton
of her previous glory
a wishful memory
I
see differently
her hands emitting warmth
into my own
I make
her
hot chocolate and marshmallows
her arms around me
a
blanket of protection
against the chill outside
inside
flames light her face
rest my head
upon her breast
her face is too cold
her body too rigid
she gazes longingly
out the window
Am I not enough for her?
we tread into snow
fields
lie down and make
angels
she lingers in hers
‘do
you think we go to heaven when we die?’
I tell her
yes
I don’t believe in god
she smiles
Spring
She is
embellished
in beauty
adorned with jewels
glitters amongst
the sunlight
her skirt sways in the wind
the breeze is cool
Smells of roses
but the air is uneasy
I step forward but
she takes
one step back
We can start again
new
promises
Fingers grasp the door handle
'I need to bloom'
Her heels balanced on the threshold
‘I need to be
reborn’
She is looking for something more
Voice desperate, begging
I love you
Her smile dazzles,
Before she closes the door,
‘I was wrong about one thing,
I have fallen in love
after all’
