Smell of books

Smell of books

A Poem by Mako

Smell of Books

Love

Deep undivided love

And fear of loss

A threat to Burn Your loved ones

And all you do is cry

It’s gentle

Like closing your eyes and taking in a breath

Breath

And you feel them

The paper, the edges

Their texture, their weight

Gently you touch

But it’s ravenous

Your hunger

Consuming and beautiful

You weep and they soak in your tears

Laughter and comfort

They are

Carry me through the night

On dreams of whimsy

Endlessly frustrate

Endlessly teach

True love

Desperate to hold

To know

A smell unforgettable

Makes my heart throb

I love this poem! A nice descriptive way to describe the smell of books.
