My Heart

My Heart

A Poem by Charlene Hughes
"

Trying to find the right man, it's hard

"

My heart tells me to trust you, but my mind tells me to run

I’ve heard it all before, but not from the right one

Don’t want you to think I’m looking, but don’t want you to think I’m not

My heart aches for a partner, but my mind says wait awhile

I love to hear your laughter, the joy I see in you

Makes my heart fell so happy but turns my mind to glue

The optimistic person, that fits you very well,

Gives my heart encouragement, my mind says, “what the hell.”

You speak of knowing Jesus, the savior of our souls

My heart sees the light shine in you. My mind says you know him well

I want so much to be with you, draw you close to me

Hold you tight against my bosoms, my heart you would set free

Now that’s the easy part, time to convince the rest

Get my mind to follow and I’ll give you my very best

About
I dabble a bit with poetry. I find that I write more poetry when I am feeling my lowest. That hasn't been for a while now but I would like to share some of what I have written. I have written on wha.. more..
