Isolation - What's New?

Isolation: being on your own separated by all others and stuck behind your own walls.

Going only to the food shops once or twice a week.,

Keeping distance from all others with no room to chat.

Family or friends unable to visit.

Not going out at night to local pubs or restaurants.

Just remaining in your home with only boring repeat or other insignificant channels to watch.

Nothing to do but get up then go to bed day after day.

That is what it is like today for many people --

Just all simply experiencing what it is always like for many elderly people.

This is true a lot of people live like this daily anyway this is their norm
So what’s new for them especially the very elderly and frail is also the fear of the virus so they are extra vigilant not to mix

Thank you Julie for both your reply and concern.

As said above, isolation for the elderly is just normal times for many of us.

Yet if I really think about it - we are the lucky ones!

With my regular pension, I have no fear of money not coming in due to my business or trade being shut down.

My pay, rent, council tax and all utilities bills will go on being paid without any fear during this crisis.

Many out there are now feeling so worried that they will not be able to meet those needs and even fear redundancy and eviction let alone becoming bankrupt.

Yet not for the elderly on a safe pension deal.

Yes it is true that we are the most vulnerable in society of whom this virus might even cause our death.

Yet most of us have had a good innings, raised children and grandchildren. We have had a full life and cannot expect much more.

Tis' true that many of us are safe because we don't go out much anyway, even without this virus - but for the most of it us elderly are far more secure than the rest of young society when it comes to future financial security.

Those many elderly who have died were on their last leg so this virus was just a 'rejon de muete' - lance of death!

So nobody should feel so sorry for us elderly..,

Us 'Boomers' have done it again!
