In My Heart
A Poem by Christine Peters
In my heart I am a racist..,
But in my head I am not.
In my head, I just want to be seen as doing good.

I think this poem succinctly describes a good many people. I think most of us, regardless of race, have tribalistic tendencies. Not many, though, are willing to admit it.

I used the term 'Racist' but I could have used any other like 'Homophobic', 'Antisemitic', 'Islamophobic' -- or even a 'Murderer' or 'Thief' at Heart - but my Head tells me it is so wrong to be like that.
It is all a part of our 'Nature' but where our 'Morals' play a big part - mostly due to how we were brought up. Psychopaths don't appear to have this problem between 'Heart' and 'Head' - they just follow through with what is in the 'Heart' without any other brain or 'Moral' intervention.
Times when being so down-and-out I could have considered 'Shoplifting' as being 'Moral' - yet the sheer embarrassment of being caught and named prevented me from ever doing such.
So, as you said and agreed., many of us are far different in 'Heart' than we are in our 'Heads'.
Many times if I am truly honest, I am 'Confused' where I really stand on many issues of today.

The Nazi 'Heart' ruled all and the majority of the people swopped that as their 'true' morals. They would not feel bad but proud doing and accepting what their State then said. Even their parents went along with it. Thinking otherwise would make you an enemy of the State - so true Morals were drastically changed.
It is the very same today with extremist religious cults: not just in the Middle East but all over including the USA. People there so involved have lost the ability to use their heads and are solely driven by what has been forced into their hearts.
In UK, some people are still going on about a 'Second Referendum' over the Brexit issue..,
I seriously think it's about time the World had a 'Second Coming' to put all religions straight in that the original message was 'Love'.
That is a hard nut for most of us to chew - including myself.

It was only after he came to power in 1933 that the Nazis were able to control all of society, including the media. Dr. Goebbels was a master propagandist, and he saw to it that the populace was bombarded with Nazi propaganda continuously. When you hear a big lie unchallenged for years, you come to believe it. Thus did most of the German people come to be programmed and controlled.

You are absolutely right.
In the beginning only a third of the German nation voted for Hitler but his support grew from the industrialist and hierarchy. Around that time there were many other parties involved and one more prominent was the Communists. Stalin was in power and many outside Germany also supported Hitler, including the Pope and even many in UK and USA. Hitler began well by improving homes, roads and full employment - plus giving back Germany and its people full recognition after the so unfair Versailles Treaty. Anybody would have voted for him back then.
Yet despite what you say and I agree with you, it is going off my point where 'Heart' versus 'Head' plays a big part today just as it did with the propaganda of Nazi Germany.
I feel this syndrome still exists today.
Many people do not know what to think between their 'Hearts' and their 'Heads'.

I agree. Intolerance will only lead to conflict.
