I Dream

I Dream

A Story by Christine Peters

When I go to bed,

I dream..,

Nothing makes sense when I wake up.,

Yet it all does at the time.

I go to places where I surely have been before.,

But not so when I wake up.

I see and talk to people: all part of my dream,

That are long dead: my partner, mother, father and many others,

Yet at the time of dreaming they are all still alive to me.

I never in my dream say.,

'Hang on.., your dead!'

No. At the time of dream, they are all still alive to me.

It's only when I wake up I realize the truth.

What is a dream when it comes to reality?

Is it often far better to dream than to live real life?

Is dreaming a way to escape?

A prisoner in a dark cell dreams of freedom and better times.,

A lonely one dreams of  all those they've lost.

Is dreaming far better than the nightmare of real life?
