A Reason to not Get Up

A Reason to not Get Up

A Poem by Christine Peters

The postman only delivers junk mail and not any other items of joy.

No phone calls or even left messages on my once well-advised I-phone or answer machine.

I turn on my television, whilst I plug my kettle in, nothing but bad news that I can do nothing about.

I flick channels only to learn about hardships going on around the world and why I should donate at least two pounds or more each month to each and every one of them.

O' why did I rise from my most warm and comfortable bed, where my dreams were far better than my reality.
