What is Death?

What is Death?

A Poem by Christine Peters

What is Death?

Surely just us all moving on.

We fear it!

Yet think back in history,

The days of the Romans invading our territories.

The fire and plague in London and the ongoing wars.

USA with the settlers and then the horrors of civil war.

World War One and Two and again the horrors of death that proclaimed.

We were not there amongst it all.

We were not born or even alive.

Yet does that worry or sadden us?

We feel so relieved that we were not there.

Not to be alive in the past causes us no worry at all.,

So why O' why should it bother us in the future?

Sounds well consoling. Indeed "...why should it bother us in the future?" Great poem!
