They'll Bury DaveA Poem by Christine PetersThey will bury Dave in three days time. He died at least five months ago. Why has it taken so long you might say.,
Because Dave had nobody or no one.
They must have kept him on ice - A lot longer than my micro-meals today. They needed to find somebody to foot the bill.,
But Dave, had no one.
Dave lived a simple life. He had no values or treasured possessions. He lived quite simply within his 'Sheltered Home', Keeping himself to himself and never to impose.
Dave died just as quietly, Hardly anybody knew. His home was quickly evacuated Because he had nothing to show.
Now he lay in cold storage with those wondering who will pay the costs., But Dave just lay there caring not two hoots. Eventually it must have been decided., The Government must pay in full.
Dave will go into the ground with two fingers sticking up. Alone and forgotten as he was., And without doubt not many will attend his funeral. He passed this way and lived his best., And goes out in the same most celebrated way. God Bless Dave. He finally beat the system!
