Clothes

Clothes

A Poem by Christine Peters

At home, I care not what I wear.

At work, I have to make sure I wear not the same.

I also must keep up to date.

My clothes are far more important than me alone.

I suddenly get an invite to attend a date.

I search my latest wardrobe to find a good fit.

I hurriedly brush the hangers back.,

Throwing bad ideas to the floor.

My cupboards are full with so much designs.,

Yet I have nothing, nothing to wear!

Find ideas. Pull out this and that.

Nothing but nothing to achieve my goal.

How about this..,

Its the latest style..,

Its crumpled and ruined from its last time out.

This! It will fit the bill.,

No. Soiled from the last time and won't ever will.

Should I call back and say I cannot come.,

I have nothing to wear and my life is done?

Why is it so important that my whole life.,

Is simply down to what is in my wardrobe.
