Love to be Loved

Love to be Loved

A Poem by Christine Peters

I am awoken early during my morning sleep.,

A neighbour request something quite ridiculous.

Do I get angry?

No. I fulfil their requests via half-open eyes.

I am planning a day when somebody begs me to change it -

For their concern.

Do I say no!

No. I fulfil their requests whilst trying hard to balance it all.

I do not put myself first, but all others.

I go out of my way to achieve this

In many cases I believe.,

I would lay down my life for them.

I simply ask.,

Is this Love.,

Or just me wanting to be loved?
