I Hate Christmas

I Hate Christmas

A Story by Christine Peters

I Hate Christmas

"

As a child, Christmas was so much joy and fun to me.

Decorating the tree and hanging up décor.

The magic of waking up early in the morn and finding that Santa had been around.

Sharing the pleasure of a simple Christmas feast and drinking lots of pop or soda whilst devouring many Yuletide chocolates.

It was all great fun back then.

Today, now nearing my seventies, Christmas is not nearly as so much fun.

Most of my friends or loved ones are long gone.

Christmas, and the added emotion of such, just brings tears to my eyes.

Christmas brings many people together " yet I ask, why only for that one time of year?

Why can't the Christmas spirit live on longer than just past New Year?

Christmas forces people to overspend and purchase gifts that they can not afford.

Many times giving items that nobody really needs or wants.

On the television I see adverts about sending money to help people living alone..,

Yet nobody has ever knocked my door.

The song says, 'I wish it could be Christmas Everyday!'

Well it could be, if it wasn't all such a commercial farce!

I do really hate Christmas.
