A bit More about Me.,

A bit More about Me.,

A Story by Christine Peters

I am going on 67 years of age and bloody proud of it.

I live alone at a 'Sheltered Home'. Basically that just means I can pull a life-line cord going down to the ground should I ever need to do so. Otherwise, it is just a permanent one-bedroomed flat that offers me a lot more (including costs), than I had before living in private six month contract accommodation.

As mentioned before, those very close to me are now gone (deceased). So I am surely on my own-some. Now most people may feel concerned about the elderly living alone, but please do not feel that for me.

For I am happy as Larry!

I got so much going with my Sky TV and set recordings to view when I want, plus my Internet with On-line shopping, Google and now this writers website to express my thoughts and feelings. Plus I also write regular to my local newspaper and am well known there.

I never feel alone. In fact, many times if my doorbell does ring I feel nothing but interrupted from my daily pleasures.

Yet despite all that, I have to confess that I do have an almost daily pleasure via my computer to hours of fun that even keeps me far away from watching television.

No! Its not porn.,

But quite simply and honestly its " 'First Person Shoot-em-up games'.

I regularly play games like 'Brothers in Arms', 'Call of Duty', 'Far Cry' and one of my most favourites is 'Hidden and Dangerous'. Right now I am looking for a similar but just as adventurous game.

Now many of you might think I just enjoy killing Germans. This may be so. Yet in my defence, what I enjoy most about these games is that I have computerised team members to also consider. So I have to plan my strategy well. Should I not and I lose a team member, believe me when I tell you that I have a sleepless night and feel so bad over my past mistakes.

I find that the games that I play are good for my ageing brain. I have to really think out and consider my best next moves. Just like as if it was real life and in battle.

So in my defence of playing such games I will add that it is keeping me community spirited and caring for my next door neighbour.

That's the best I can come up with and what is wrong with that?
