Her Hero

Her Hero

A Poem by Morgan Christine

She lay dying in the company of shadows

Letting go of all will to survive

Until a hero emerged from the darkness

Begging her to stay alive

Eyes fluttering open then, oh so slowly

Her gaze was met with a blinding light

And his incandescence expelled the shadows

That urged her to die that night

Gathering every shattered fragment

Of that shell of a girl on the ground

He stared deeply into lost and distant eyes

And whispered softly, "You've been found"
