IndifferentA Poem by Christopher McCormickI wrote this poem when I was in secondary school. It is written in a context that presumes one was bullIied for being a member of the lgbt community.
Every night I lay silently, tears violently caressing my soft velvet cheeks
Fear oppressing the truth in such harsh deniability of reality, That such love could not be portrayed without judgement By those who refuse to acknowledge the simplicity of morality The endless stream of ominous comments in the corridors The 'secret' jolts against the walls whilst awaiting the arrival of the protector And abundant lies to protect they who obliterated any possibility of a contented education Yet it was never enough for those who always anticipate more Each day a new chapter in this incessant discrimination for sinfully being different Conscious of the possibility that I was straightforwardly as normal as any other adolescent who entered this prison like edifice, With hundreds of testosterone filled entities. Surely I couldn't be the only individual who was being unnecessarily demented © 2016 Christopher McCormick |
