Heading for the SunsetA Poem by Angela MulleyI imagined one day, a few years back, a piece of paper and a pencil; which I took to my hand and began to draw the outline of a boat sailing on water. There were no people on this boat; but I, being the observer imagined that there might be; A tall dark haired gentleman, his eyes sparkling with the gleam of sea and sunset - seemingly distant, yet touching. The light from the weary orb, amber with tinges of red moved through his fingers, through his hair; yet in his mind he neared this 2d image. If you were to ask him where he were going, he might declare that he were heading for the sunset.
His tall figure decreased, the man disappeared and I looked out as I had before when there were no people on this boat; but I, being the observer imagined that there might be. The sunset glistened in my eyes; the light moved through my my hair. In my mind I neared this 2d object. - If you were to ask me where it is I am going, I might declare that I am heading for the sunset.
The whole thing took about five days to complete, but when I had, on a piece of paper was a painting of a boat heading for the sunset. © 2011 Angela Mulley |
