Masks

Masks

A Poem by Christine Marie Friend
"

Self journey and hops

"
The masks persist
Shimmer, fade, and dance
Not everyone understands
Nor obtain a second chance
Not having to lie
Nor having to hide
From the true self you thought had died
Calming serenity
And knowing REAL love
Family and friends holding you
Helping you rise above
Not afraid anymore
To finish what I'd started
I am Not ashamed
Nor Brokenhearted
I don't have to rage
or hate everything
Suddenly I hear
That golden bell ring
The angry beast dies
The facade stops
The good one survives
And the mask finally drops
Unconditional love
 I just had to ask
With a final realization
I no longer need that mask
