A Poem by christina

today is your birthday.
18 came, and went, and you are still a year younger.
it's strange, sometimes i forget to think of you.
I no longer wish for you on eyelashes and dandelions
or look for you in crowded hallways.
i am not the same sixteen year old girl i was 10 months ago.
but if she were here today, she would miss you just the same.

"I no longer wish for you on eyelashes and dandelions"

Poignant. Can feel the inner lament and wistful imagining of "what if"

"if she were here today, she would miss you just the same"

Seems like the narrator acknowledges the deep loss but still loves, and perhaps always will till time dulls the memory...
