Fallen Chapter Fifteen

                 Chapter Fifteen

Running down the crowded streets of Jackson was exhausting. Dixon kept a hold of my hand and Cooper held the other one, pulling me along with their long strides. Cassidy was in front, clearing the path, knocking in to people, I could hear their angry words as we raced pass. I heard Cooper gasp in pain and I felt his hand loosen. I looked back to see that the Light had shot a bolt of lightning, hitting Cooper in the leg.
With Cooper dragging at my hand, refusing to let go, he was also dragging Dixon and I down with him.
“Run Cassidy, get Colby!” Cassidy had stopped and was running our way, Dixon yelled and he turned with one last look of unsure torture shining in his eyes.
“Run Cassidy!” I did not want him anywhere near here; the Light was closing the distance fast.
“Cooper please! You have to get up Cooper!” I was sobbing, tugging at his arm. I could see his leg, gushing blood from the gash the bolt had left behind.
“Kennley, you have to go! RUN!”
“No, Cooper please!” I was still tugging at his arm; I would not leave him behind.
Dixon was behind Cooper, standing between the Light and us.
I pulled my hand from Cooper’s firm grasp, taking a stand next to Dixon.
“Get back Kennley!” His face was terrifying; I would never have guessed his face could look like that.
“No, I will not back down!” I would not run a way this time.
The Light was on top of us now and everything and everyone around us seemed to stop. People walking down the street stopped mid step, a dog sniffing at some raw meat no longer breathed in the savoring spicy smell. I looked around astounded, what has happened? Did someone press the pause button?
“Hello Kennley. It is nice to see you again.” The Light’s voice was like nothing on this earth; the sound of it sent chills down my spine where they sat in the pit of my stomach. His voice was deep and threatening, even though he had a smile on his face, He had some kind of accent, British I think, but I couldn’t tell.
Dixon visibly shuttered at the sound; his face going white with rage.
“Leave now!” Dixon’s voice shook as he yelled at the Light, who was slowly advancing.
“Kennley please leave!” Cooper’s voice was weak, I turned and saw that his face was pale; his leg was loosing more blood than I thought.
“Oh, now you don’t want to leave, do you Kennley?” It was my turn to shutter, his voice wrapped around my name as a snake would wrap around it’s pray, squeezing the life out of it.
“Leave.” The words were weak and meant nothing to the Light. He just stood and smiled a little smile at me.
Cooper’s voice was coming in shallow gasps; I would not be able to stand it much longer. If only Alorha was here she could help save Cooper.
The Light’s slow steps were bringing him closer and Dixon still had not attacked. I looked over at him and let out a small scream. His face was turning purple the Light was killing him.
“Stop it, stop it!” I screamed helpless to do anything. Why couldn’t my hands burn when I wanted them to?
“Why?” The Light’s voice held all of the amusement of someone enjoying what they were doing. The thought of something like this bringing joy to someone turned my stomach. I could feel the vomit in the back of my throat, making it sting.
“Please! Stop!” Dixon had fallen to his knees, clawing at his throat, his face turning a deeper purple, he would be dead unless the Light released him.
The Light was right in front of me, his eyes moving all over my body; I tried to take a step back but tripped on Cooper’s still form. The Light caught my arm as I fell backwards and pulled me close to his body. His skin seared my skin where it touched. I winced as the pain grew.
“Let me go!” My voice shook this time with rage, Cooper and Dixon were dieing.
“Mmmm.” You smell delicious. Just like I always knew you would.” I was confused.
“What are you talking about?” I shuttered as his nose trailed down my cheek.
“You don’t know? The ‘Stars’ haven’t told you that you are destined to betray them, to be with me.” He chuckled at the obvious revulsion in my body.
“You’re lying! I would never betray them. I could never be with you!”
