Buzz in the Dark

Buzz in the Dark

A Poem by John Fredrick Carver
"

If we are the cells of the Universe then the rest of what is out there is the rest of the Body we belong to much like bees are part of a hive.

"

She surrounds me with air so I know that she is there

She provided clothes my intellect chose of all those

She made available combs and shampoo for my hair

And even scissors and it figures with my size of nose

She gives me friends to be my guests at my request

She allows me to laugh and to plant on them all a smile

She puts up with my heat and my air whichever is best

Which I think brings them back to visit all the while

She is streets and clowns in  big cities and towns

She’s pastures, orchards, and fields; woods full of trees

She’s forests and planes with both their ups and downs

Her rockets, planets, and satellites in space are all bees

In a hive I call the Universe in a park

With nothing beyond her unending buzz in the dark …
