This is from a collection I'm working on with the theme "science". Each poem is about something scientific, and I use structures more so than free verse.

Alphabetic Orbits

 

Orbiting the alphabet

s and p

f and d

Little hornets swirling

Shapes around the hive

 

Do the electric slide

Through quantum jumps

Photonic music

Excites the dance

Upon stages of ionic changes

 

Identity exposed in spectra

Elemental fingerprints

Hiding in the light

It’s the rhythm of creation

Each note upon the table

 

Each periodic entry

Bearing links and facets

Combination and destruction

Particle emission

Happening in flashes

 

Numeric determination

By proton population

Neutral territory

Is necessary

Instills stability

 

Deeper levels in the core

Quark trios and more

Exotic figures

Beneath barriers

Breaking at light speed
