You're Here I'm There

You're Here I'm There

A Poem by Chris Micha
"

The miles of separation.

"

You're Here I'm There

You're here

I'm there

~

Chasing shadows

that were left behind

on the walls where we belong

~

Pretending the space next to us is occupied

by a smile that takes up room

in the corners of the universe

~

Kissing the molecules of un-breathed air

in-between the distant lungs

of exhaled wishes

~

Talking inside a conversation

held in imaginary lingo

between two souls

wanting the same gravity

~

Looking over vacant shoulders

to be sure our name wasn't called

by a familiar voice

etched inside like minds

inside tethered thoughts

~

Wrapped inside invisible arms

familiar with the comfort

of a beating heart

~

Looking at the lights

from a distant horizon

of cities & towns

separating our desired destination

~

Living inside dreams of magic

made from the moments

left in time

when the future was created

~

For right now

~

You're here

I'm there

But

Somewhere in the future

We are together...

Talking about today.

There will be a day in the future, where we are together... Thinking back and we will remember old times and this poem will be one of those. "do you remember when I was away for work in South Tx and you were still in Miss. You wrote a poem about how we would be together one day and think back to that day." Me and you Babe

You're here
I'm there
But
Somewhere in the future
We are together...

Talking about today.

I was able to relate to this very well, long distance relationships, in my case me in Europe, her in Canada for two years was very tough.
You stated it well here.

This was beautifully written! Distance is never easy, but I believe that two can make it work if they truly put their hearts into it. If it doesn't last, then perhaps it wasnt meant to be. Distance takes a lot of patience and dedication, on both parts. Very on point and true! I know how this is since I've been in quite a few long distance relationships, they aren't a walk in the park, but if with the right person, every empty moment is worth sharing with that certain someone.

This is a very accurate look at long distance relationships. Personally, I never had the strength to maintain them, but kudos to those who do.

I am teary-eyed writing this review because this describes PERFECTLY how I feel about my long distance relationship. My favorite part of the poem is:
"Kissing the molecules of un-breathed air
in-between the distant lungs
of exhaled wishes"
I'm such a sap for this poem. It is very lovely.

To sum me up is pretty easy. I love writing because it's therapy for my wayward soul. Although, I am by no means any good at it, I still put myself out there. I use to write when I was younger but gav.. more..
