Under the Neon

Under the Neon

A Poem by Chris Micha
"

A universal love poem.

Under the Neon

I'm underneath the lights

Listening to my thoughts race

Watching the sheen of rain glisten off your pale skin

Like an array of neon inviting a wayward soul in for a hot cup of coffee

At the only café at the edge of the universe

Where the lonely traveler journeyed through countless frames of his life

Searching through an infinite amount of stills taken, looking for answers

Stitching together a mosaic of a map of where he's been

Taking a step back, taking it all in

Realizing instantly, once it's all put together

Where this piece of Heaven exists tucked away somewhere

In the most unlikeliest of places

Where the road winds like a labyrinth

 There are no guarantees

And faith fuels the engines to get there

Through it all

He's made it to his destination

Walks in

Sits down

And from the back she welcomes him with a smile

A smile that says "it will all be okay from now on"

She locks the doors

Turns off the neon

Serves him a hot cup of coffee

And a kiss

...that brings me out of my thoughts.

Ah, lovely presentation! I love how you phrase your poems. My favourite lines would be
"Stitching together a mosaic of a map of where he's been"
"There are no guarantees

And faith fuels the engines to get there"

I could be wrong but this one had the feel of Douglas Adams and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy...either way, you've penned a most unique romantic piece...it's amazing how the image of a simple cup of coffee can be just as romantic as wine or martinis, as least for a caffeine fiend like me haha I liked the idea of turning off the neon, like wrapping up the journey through the cosmos with just the two of them...nicely done Christian, I really liked this one.

"Heaven exists tucked away somewhere,in the unlikeliest place"- how valid is that statement.. when we are.most unaware, when our eyes meets the person we become aware.the uncertainity of when, where and how ?? It is very well portrayed here. The way she prophesizes that future will be fine is the sweetest pary of the poem.. i guess everyone will be able to connect to it.. it is truly universal love poem.. well done ;)

Poetic and passionate, this flows quite smoothly and melts the heart with emotion

Hmmm, interesting. It took a reread but I did find the twist at the end brought it round.

You don't even need to ask what we think of your writings! Here lies idealistic levels of depth and beauty which produce a passionate work. You have a beautiful mind,to say the least.... And a sagacious pen!

To sum me up is pretty easy. I love writing because it's therapy for my wayward soul. Although, I am by no means any good at it, I still put myself out there. I use to write when I was younger but gav.. more..
