Ode To Writers

Ode To Writers

A Poem by Chris Micha
"

Just a tribute to you.

"
Caffeine riddled minds

Tingle with stimulation

Thoughts plotting their escape

Forming lines to execute their freedom

Worlds & characters spring to life

Through unimaginable imagination

We are the engineers

Constructing intrinsic works of art

Locked in literaries' glorious history

Emotions poured from a bleeding pen

Tears in ink, speak our pain

Infecting hearts & minds

With our contagious words

Inspiring youths to dream

Giving voice to the silenced souls

Tearing down walls of injustice

Setting forth truth on paper

Injecting knowledge into inquiring minds

Sharing our words through generations

Parting pieces of ourselves through verse

As our stories live on inside of them

We travel every continent

Through the eyes that take us in

And breathed out in voices

By those who speak our thoughts

So never let die, our pursuit for immortality

May our words echo loudly through time

That we may live on in eternity....

I adore poetry about poetry, and this one is special Christian, you had me at the first line, and it continued to invoke a response in my poetic heart. ;) Great read....!

This is the essence of a writer. From experience I can say this is spot on. At times, it is not easy, but it is our life's breath and so we push on. This is definitely a favorite of mine. The lines below really rung true for me. Fantastic work, Christian!

Forming lines to execute their freedom"

Madalyn, I am so happy you liked it. I am honored as always. :)
You have captured the writer's role in the universe! Clear and concise, but yet still so beautifully put. Five stars!

I only have a few ideas on how this can be improved. They are just suggestions, so feel free to ignore them if you don't agree.
1. I think this poem would be nice if it were broken up a little. Maybe after every fifth line you could leave a space? I don't know if this would create a break in the flow of the poem or add a sort of drama to it. Either way, I beleive it is worth experimenting with.
2. This is just a small error I picked out. I believe in the third line from the bottom you were trying to say "never let die our pursuit of greatness." I'm guessing 'Lever' is just a typo. However, if this was purposeful please explain the meaning of this word as it's not in my vocabulary!

You fufill your purpose as a poet. Thank-you for your words!

Means a lot, Margo! I appreciate your ideas and review. :)
I think poets are very often on the front lines of thought and injustice. We are the watchdogs of the watchdogs and ourselves. What we leave behind in words and images is the essence of who we were deep in the recesses of our inner cores of being.

Very true statements. Thank you! :)
Youve captured perfectly the essence of a writer. We are a crazy bunch..guess thats required to cone up with the things we write. I really like the last four lines...fame and fortune are elusive but its the thought that our words will live after we're gone that means so much. We all leave a part of ourselves in our ink. x

About
To sum me up is pretty easy. I love writing because it's therapy for my wayward soul. Although, I am by no means any good at it, I still put myself out there. I use to write when I was younger but gav.. more..
