Magnolia

Magnolia

A Poem by Chris Micha
"

She has a face and a name, it is...Magnolia.

"

"Magnolia"

She's alone

Screaming in a sound proof box

Drowning in despair

Clinging to an old abandoned rock

A broken home and broken dreams

Shatter her frail bare bones

The razors edge bleeds the emotional scars

and the pain from being alone

In her room, she sits by the window

Waiting on Hope & Chance

She used to wait for Faith

But she was taken by an abusive man

She waits in the moment

One second at a time

She closes her eyes and dreams

Of love and happy days gone by

Sweet Magnolia

You're beautiful and strong

So...

Hold On!

Magnolia

For your bloom won't have to wait too long.

The razors edge bleeds the emotional scars...my favourite line of the poem, a poem in which every line carries a wealth of significance and sadness. You tell her story with emotional precision and pathos, and the images stick with the reader long after the poem is read. Great work Christian.

Thought-provoking for sure. Your last line offers such a promise of hope: "For your bloom won't have to wait too long."

I hope any youth in that situation would have hope but all too often, they don't. :(
