The dark side of addiction.

I'm just a ghost that's looking at a ghost.

There you are again
Reality void from your eyes
Pale cheeks stained in rust
Pores leaking the stench of lies

Laughter is now an echo
Infecting hearts in the past
Time is hurt from being ignored
It bows its head and runs away fast

Love is buried in a wilted rose garden
Decaying under emotionless soil
As the light refracts off the ebony haze
The neglect begins to take its toll

The puppeteer has left you hanging onto life
Too feeble to cut the strings
He's a demon disguised as Heaven
Masking all the Hell he brings.

I love the last two stanzas and how much imagery and inner meaning that they hold. To know that love can't last forever all the time, so most people must learn to bury it and move on. Also, it's tough to see life properly if we are a puppet, having another call the shots for us...determining our fate. We have to do what we can to be our own people...not follow others, make our own decisions...make our own luck and miracles.
