Hypothetical MusingsA Poem by Chris1189
Sometimes I wonder what life would be like if humans were asexual, if each of us reproduced by budding, and everyone went about their day- to-day activities with perfect miniature genetic copies of themselves growing from their bodies. I also contemplate a world with a more practical nature to it, one where the sun won’t even bother rising on a cloudy day and every person always stays focused, never wasting time on inefficient distractions like interlocking hands with a lover. Occasionally, I’ll envision a clean sky, without CFCs or greenhouse gases, or satellites littering the atmosphere with countless hellos and good nights and I miss yous sent from lonely mouths to lonely ears on the opposite end of the globe. Then, I’ll shut my eyes tightly and picture a life that doesn’t have you in it, relentlessly ripping through every one of my thoughts and through every moment with your perfect eyes, with your cherry blonde hair, with your unattainable body.
