The CoatA Story by Chris RankineA look at probably the most under appreciated item of clothing we own.The
Coat The winter is The Coats time to shine, ironic given
the lack of sunshine. As soon as you put it on, you feel it’s weight and it’s
warmth, especially after months of wearing thin jackets and fleeces. It’s The Coats warmth that makes you feel ready to go
out into the cold, it’s The Coat that gets you to your destination without
shivering down to the bone. When you are ready to leave and go home, it is there
for you again. In fact, it is there for you all winter through Christmas,
into the new year, through cold Januarys and miserable Februarys, even early
spring days. As soon as the weather picks up, it ends up back in
the wardrobe, or at the back of a cupboard collecting dust for three quarters
of the year. The Coat gets forgotten about and neglected for the
majority of the year, yet it waits patiently until needed again. The Coat looks after us when we need it most, the
least we can do is return the favour; keep it clean, take it to the dry cleaners,
wash it with a cloth, brush it down. Whatever it takes to ensure The Coat is
ready for another cold winter. © 2020 Chris RankineFeatured Review
