Scotland we are blessed with a wealth of easily accessible Islands. Ideal for
those of us who are not particularly interested in going abroad. For
most people an island is the perfect chance for escapism, to leave worries and
trouble on the mainland. For
me, the Isle of Arran is my holiday destination of choice, in fact I am here
right now writing this. I could not estimate the number of times I have been on
holiday here, or even just day trips. Life is different here, people are
different here. There is always a “hello” or a “good morning” from the people
you pass. Try that in a town or city and most people would think you crazy, or weird. Life
feels a lot more relaxed here, almost slower, nobody pushing passed in a hurry,
every second person isn’t on their phone not paying attention to their
surroundings. The
idea of living on an island has appealed to me for long time, whilst I wouldn’t
say it would be a dream come true to move, it has certainly been a thought,
that has become more persistent with each passing visit. However,
two big questions remain: Could
I actually pack up and move? Assuming employment and accommodation were sorted. Should
I actually move? © 2019 Chris Rankine |
