flicker

flicker

A Poem by chr66is

the wax drips

and the flame

flickers while my

mind slips deeper

into warm waves

of euphoric

nothingness,

shadows dance

up the walls,

swaying in

illuminated bliss,

illusions fall

away and I

linger near the

abyss of this

profound level

of consciousness,

a state of

awareness that

can only be found

in the depths of

my soul, down

the rabbit hole

so far that my

sense of control

melts away and

i feel whole for

a few sacred

moments, until

i resurface and

the components

of reality slip

further away

from me, but

i’ll wait patiently

for my next

escape to

sanity…

it's nice how you move from one image to another, capturing it vividly in words. The poem has a good meditative feel, and in a way, mysteriously charming and brilliant! good work! :)

brilliant!...this poem reminds me of when I would just sit and stare at the flickering flame of a candle...I got the impression the flame was hiding something...

That is how I feel when new lines and phrases start to form in my head. It is an intensity I've never been able to describe without sounding crazy. It is wonderful that someone else knows that feeling.

thats cool;) reading it felt like a warm bath in melting wax. nice singular subject and nice journey through it with the image of a flickering candle as the strobe light, i like that its back to sanity rather than to insanity. Thats coool too.

The imagery itself is enough to makes this very romantic in terms of moments with the "self"....this is very mysterious, and lovely. This certainly makes me want nightfall, a couple of matches, and a deep, medidative state to mull things over with myself. This was very beautiful, Chris. Thank you for sharing....
