costly

costly

I could've sent this to Hallmark, but I posted it here instead. I know it's incredibly corny, but I still think it's true.

"

The price of wisdom is quite high,

it never has been cheap,

intangible commodities

that we would rather keep,

Innocence is often our

initial sacrifice,

at times we’ll see disparity

when fairness should suffice.

And though we lose the ones we love

through distance, death, or rifts,

sometimes it takes a loss to see,

relationships are gifts,

But of the things we have to trade

for wisdom past our prime,

the steepest price we’ll ever pay

will be our precious time.

So don’t forget from this day forth

through everything you do,

to savor every moment,

since our moments are so few.
