reprieve

reprieve

A Poem by chr66is

twisted thinking, tightening grip,

headed for another slip,

toxic tales to be told,

my resolve is sure to fold,

but grace has come to me once more,

inspired by a metaphor,

glowing embers, burning bright,

my ailing soul assailed with light,

so sanity survives the day,

despite my mental disarray,

the lights go out, my mind rolls on,

obsession lingering ‘til dawn.
