My families mission

My families mission

A Poem by Caleb Hardesty Pine
"

This poem is about my younger sister getting diagnosed with a rare case hydrocephalous, and her journey to getting better.

"

She became ill; it was an awful disease in her head

She would moan and groan and never leave her bed

It was so depressing to see my sister in her new condition

My family was now in alert, we started a mission

We looked for a way to make her better it’s all we cared about

After a while it seem there was no end to the pain, we started to doubt

After three long years of doctors poking and prodding there was a light

It was a simple treatment, which brought us to the light

My brother called me, you could hear the tears running down his face

She had been healed; she woke up without headache not even a trace

It’s hard to describe the feeling I got when I got this news

It felt like God was done with his abuse

The next day she called with pure joy in her voice

She couldn’t control herself she was in such rejoice

She soon got to come home, from the adventure she took

Thank the heavens about she is now off the hook

Caleb:

I like the way you shared a complex and horrendous experience with so few words. I also liked the line about hearing the tears run down your brother's face- and that "she is now off the hook". It is made bittersweet by your confession about God being "done with his abuse".

I used to get a lot of my writing from dark places in my life. While most of it is out of my system now, there are still times when I wonder- then shake it off and move on. Writing stories and keeping a writing journal has gotten me through some hellishly dark days.

Congrats to you for using writing as an outlet and a way to create something that was not there before. Welcome to the site.
