Firefly StarsA Poem by Selah(2009)
Raging, flashing twinkling in the deep purple cast of the moon
She silently sweeps across the the winding path lined with fresh spring roses Weaving in and out of the the luminating lamp posts Tears like a a water fall tearing across her face Twirling and spinning, dancing through the field as she did as a little girl Trying to remember what it was like before this As she lies beneath the cover of a grand oak, she thinks back to the days past She wanted to be there for him so badly Looking to the skies, changing from a plumy purple to a brilliant blue She feels pains of being shut out of his whole existance Like a captured butterfly yearning for the sweet taste of the gloden dew on the soft pink petals of a rose Her eyes got heavy as she lay beneath the comforting diamond shaped leaves She dreamt a different land where the clouds are tuffs off sweet cotton candy And the waters are as clear as glass Far away from the cruelty of mankind and the loneliness of the world In her place, you were not bound to the materialistics of Earth When she awoke, she saw crystal like raindrops tumbling down from above She looked up expecting smokey gray clouds but instead there was a sky as blue as a robins egg Leaping to her feet, she swayed in the endless rain Suddenly she was swiftly lifted up, up through the air, Out away from the Earth, where she danced among the glistening stars She was swept through the infinate abyss before her Chasing comets and catching the spakling stars as if they were fireflies Was this a dream? Or a dream within a dream? She thought of these things as she gently glided down, back to the real world She felt the soft touch of the long, green grass as she ran her finger though it She closed her eyes and felt a warm touch grace her cheek Her eyes fluttered open to see him standing there He held her and she felt the earth stop As she stood there in his arms, she knew he cared She looked up and saw that his eyes were as blue as the sky during the cloudless rain And they twinkled and sparkled like the firefly stars Tears of joy trinkled down her cheeks, glinting from the fair sun rising in the east © 2014 Selah |
