I'll Meet You ThereA Poem by Selah("This Generation" 2010)
In this generation/ we try to find ourselves/ we try to stand on our own/ thinking we can make it/ but our foundations are weak/ I speak of what you don’t want to hear/ but you need to hear what it is that I say/ so please sit awhile/ come to me all you weary and weak/ lay your heads to rest/ for I bring good news/ there is hope/ don’t turn away and pretend not to care/ we try to escape this world through cuts and lies/ we think it would just be easier to leave without final goodbyes/ but I tell you now through a veil of tears/ I can not live without you here/ come to me with all your burdens/ I want to be here for you/ lie your head on my shoulder/ and I’ll never let you fall/ stay with me and we’ll make it through this mess/ don’t punish yourself for the works out of your control/ instead, live in the moment and take a look around/ you’ll see a whole new life in a whole new light/ don’t move, don’t speak/ just breathe it all in/ let it fill up your senses/ let your soul be at peace/ take my hand and close your eyes/ and dream of where we will go/ we’ll fly up above this city, these people, this place/ far beyond the valleys, the mountains, the oceans/ up to where the skies cradle the clouds/ that’s where we’ll go/ so when your standing on the edge/ and your head is telling you to jump/ or your staring at your reflection/ on the piercing blade of death/ remember our place/ and I’ll meet you there
