A Mechanical Heart

A Mechanical Heart

A Poem by Kiara Auddino
"

Banged up and bruised my old heart no more. Now new one stands where one stood before.

"

A Mechanical Heart

The twisting of gears

The stretching of springs

A mechanical heart I own

The simulation of beating

The impersonation of pulse

From my own little qualms it’s grown

The cold metal outside

The workers within

My heart weighing more than stone

The yearning of love

The promise of hope

Why must I feel so alone?
