Learn to UnderstandA Poem by Kiara AuddinoThere is way to much judging of a cover and not enough reading of the book. They say that respect is earned; Not given. But what will happen on that day, When we can’t be forgiven. I understand that this world and everyone in it; Likes to judge. But I don’t understand, Why we all hold a grudge. Understanding is the; Key to it all. Not knowing each, Will be the start to our fall Hiding ourselves is drilled into our heads; From when we are young. So much to the point, Where lies roll from our tongue. Being in this world; Drives me insane. Because we give an opinion, Before we know their name. I hate being here; ‘Cause I can’t be myself. I guess we all think the same, Since our values end up on the shelf. We need to understand; Whether we’re straight or we’re gay. To care for each other, And it must start today. One day we’ll manage; To walk hand-in-hand. But that won’t happen till, We all understand. © 2014 Kiara AuddinoAuthor's Note
