As I’ve Been ToldA Poem by StephanieMaybe we’re meant to do as we see
I’ve done what I’m told not as I’ve seen
Yet my memory remains illy keen Remember the dance with the uninvited felon A guilty conscious overstays its welcome You can serve it pride You can feed it greed But it thirsts for more than you can appease Remember the laughs accompanied by satire A stained word record remains interminably You can scrub it with surrender You can wipe it with beguile But once darkened its nature can never enlighten Remember the sound, oh the sound An engraved tune dances for eternity You can swing to its doubts You can waltz to its murmurs But it holds those who listen imprisoned Remember the essence surrounding the guest A fragrance determined to linger with nuisance You can spray the apologies You can mist the petitions But I do as I’ve been told not as I’ve seen © 2019 StephanieAuthor's Note

StatsAuthorStephanieIDAboutI love writing short stories. Not too short nor too long. Simple and straight to the point. No need for rhymes or chapters, unless I'm up for it. Otherwise, just a story. Did and done. more..Writing
